Opportunities and activities
Chatswood Public School offers a range of programs and facilities to support every student’s learning and wellbeing. From academic enrichment to creative arts, sport and student leadership, we provide opportunities for all students to thrive in a supportive and engaging environment.
Our facilities and programs
Chatswood Public School offers its students a wide variety of extra curricular activities.
Extra curricular activities are voluntary, and require considerable time and personal commitment by students, teachers and, sometimes, even parents! For all activities, students will be expected to be punctual, prepared and correctly equipped. Parents will be invoiced for any costs.
Opportunity Class
We have a strong whole-school focus on High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE), making sure that students with advanced abilities in intellectual, creative, physical and social-emotional areas are identified, supported and challenged.
Through targeted programs, enrichment opportunities and adjusted teaching, we aim to help every student reach their full potential.
Student Voice – Student Representative Council (SRC)
The Student Representative Council (SRC) empowers students to take on leadership roles and have a voice in school decision-making.
Representatives from each class meet regularly to discuss school initiatives, student concerns, and community projects.
The SRC promotes active citizenship and collaboration across the school. Being part of SRC helps students develop communication, responsibility, and leadership skills.
The library
The library is a vibrant and welcoming learning space. Students visit each week for a structured library lesson and have the opportunity to borrow books.
The library also includes laptops, iPads, 3D printers and an interactive whiteboard, giving students opportunities to explore and engage with technology.

Students are encouraged to develop their musical talents, teamwork, and self-confidence through engaging musical experiences. The program enriches school life and fosters a strong sense of community through music.
Dance
The Dance Program at Chatswood Public School allows students to express themselves creatively through movement.
Weekly rehearsals focus on rhythm, coordination, and performance skills across various dance styles. Students perform at assemblies and special school events, showcasing their growth and talent. Dance fosters teamwork, confidence, and a sense of joy in physical expression.
Choirs
Our school choirs provide students with the opportunity to explore their voices and develop vocal techniques in a supportive group setting. Choir members rehearse regularly and perform at school and community events throughout the year.
Participation helps build confidence, teamwork, and a love for singing. The choir program welcomes students from a range of year levels and abilities.
School Sport
It is important to us that students have the best start in life when it comes to their health and fitness. All students take part in weekly PDHPE lessons.
Our sport program provides two hours each week focused on fitness, strength, skill development, health and nutrition, covering all outcomes from the PDHPE syllabus.
Creative Arts
Creative Arts are part of the curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 6. Students explore dance, drama, music and visual arts, learning to create, perform and appreciate different art forms.
At Chatswood Public School, students express their creativity through performances, exhibitions, competitions and enrichment programs. Students with special talents can also take part in local and state events in the arts.
Green Thumb Club
Green Thumb Club encourages students to connect with nature and learn about gardening, sustainability, and the environment.
Members take care of the school gardens, plant seasonal vegetables, and explore eco-friendly practices. It’s a hands-on way to promote environmental awareness and responsibility.
The club also supports wellbeing and teamwork through outdoor learning.
Chook Chat
Chook Chat is a unique program where students care for the school chickens and learn about animal care and responsibility.
Through regular feeding, cleaning, and observing, students develop empathy and practical life skills.
They also take part in discussions about sustainability and food systems. It’s a hands-on, fun way to connect with nature and learn through experience.
