Choirs
Students who are interested in joining the choir submit an expression of interest at the beginning of the year or notify the choir coordinators if they are mid-year enrolments. Expressions of Interest notifications will be placed in the school newsletter in addition to announcements at school and assemblies, to encourage students to participate.
If students are successful with their application they will have the chance to join the school choirs, which perform at many important school assemblies, ceremonies and outside of school events throughout the year.
Choirs are arranged per grade or stage, depending on the number of students interested in joining. Classroom teachers direct the respective choirs and practice is generally held at lunchtime on a nominated day.
Performance opportunities include:
- Twilight Concert Performance
- School assemblies
- Festival of Choral Music
- Primary Proms
- Festival of Children’s Music
Joining any of the choirs requires a commitment to attend all rehearsals and to learn the repertoire required. Students who have been part of Chatswood Public School choirs in the past have cherished the experience. Choir students gain a unique knowledge of performance techniques along with a sense of pride as they represent our school.
There is a cost incurred to be involved in the choir with a permission note and invoice sent through School Bytes in Term 1 each year.
