Meet our principal

Welcome to Chatswood Public School!

Welcome to Chatswood Public School, a K-6 school with more than 140 years of history and tradition in providing quality education to children from Sydney's North Shore.

I am very proud to be the principal of a school that is the heart of our local community. The school has a rich heritage of high academic achievement and supports special programs high potential gifted education and we offer a supportive learning environment for students with additional learning needs in our Inclusive Hub (Support Unit). Chatswood Public School is an inclusive and multicultural school, rich in diversity, making it a special place to be.

Relationships are very important at Chatswood Public School – relationships between teachers and students; teachers and parents; and of course, amongst the students themselves. By investing in these relationships, we seek to create a culture where every child is inspired, engaged, and nurtured, and where all students develop a life-long love of learning.

An extensive student welfare program, developed by students for students, ensures that our students’ needs are catered for.

Chatswood Public School has a longstanding tradition in the Creative Arts, incorporating year-round programs in Music and Dance and additional programming in Drama and Visual Arts. We recognise that our creative art education promotes creative expression, improves students’ problem-solving skills, fosters discipline and enhances self-confidence.

Students have the opportunity to join extracurricular choirs and instrument ensembles, and to audition for dance groups and advanced music ensembles. The Chatswood Public School Music Program includes bands, ensembles as well as an opportunity for before/afterschool instrument lessons (pending availability) and instrument hire. In our highly regarded choral program, students can join an age-appropriate choir and participate in many wonderful school and external events such as state choral festivals. All choir and ensemble participants also perform in the annual Chatswood Public School Twilight Concert. Our junior and senior dance groups likewise perform at a range of programs including school events and external festivals and Eisteddfods.

Our Sport programs provide opportunities for students to build on their confidence, fitness, skill coordination, health and nutrition, incorporating every outcome in the Physical Development, Health and Education (PD/H/PE) syllabus. Our School provides a variety of sport programs which include soccer, netball, cricket, AFL, tennis, basketball and modified softball.

English/Korean Bilingual classes are also offered at Chatswood Public School from K-6.  Our school has additional language programs, including Mandarin and Korean. These programs support all students to engage in authentic language development and cultural practices.

Chatswood Public School is committed to providing exceptional education based on educational research in a nurturing and supportive learning environment, meeting the needs of all students. In our state-of-the-art facilities, outstanding teachers, innovative teaching and learning programs and strong community values we will create long lasting memories for your child and family.
