At Chatswood Public School there are many ensembles for students to start or extend their musical journey. The following ensembles are available at CPS:
Entry to each of the ensembles is via tryouts and/or auditions and are held very early in Term 1 or at the end of preceding year. The program is open to students in Years 1-6.
An information session is held in Term 1 each year and this date will be advertised in the school newsletter. This session explains in more detail the extracurricular music program and some instruments will be demonstrated. There will also be the opportunity to meet some of our instrument tutors and ensemble directors. This is also a great opportunity to ask further questions. The expression of interest process opens after this information session.
Joining any of the ensembles requires a commitment to attend all rehearsals and to learn the repertoire required. Students who have been part of Chatswood Public School ensembles in the past have cherished the experience. Music students gain a unique knowledge of performance techniques along with a sense of pride as they represent our school.
Ensemble fees are invoiced through School Bytes each semester . Ensemble fees are used to pay for music, copyright licenses, entry fees, Directors’ fees, Accompanists’ fees, and other associated costs.
Instrument hire fees are used to pay for service and repairs to instruments and cases.
Performance and excursion costs will be charged as they occur and will be notified to parents via the excursion information packs.
Instrument lesson fees are invoiced every term by the Instrument Tutors and are payable directly to the Tutors.
